Billington's support Fairtrade Fortnight
8th Mar 2006
Latest figures show that sales of products with the FAIRTRADE mark have been rising by around 40% each year and should hit £270m by the end of 2006.
Billington's support the work of the Fairtrade Foundation with two FAIRTRADE unrefined cane sugars; Fairtrade Golden Granulated sugar and Fairtrade Demerara sugar. Both sugars, sourced in Malawi, are available in Waitrose, whilst Sainsburys stock Fairtrade Golden Granulated sugar.
Support from retailers as well as consumers is key to the growth of Fairtrade. This weekend (11th & 12th March) Sainsbury’s customers will be able to sample Fairtrade coffee and tea from Café Direct and Clipper, complimented with Billington's Fairtrade Golden Granulated sugar. The sampling events are intended to increase awareness of Fairtrade products and will be taking place in 50 stores across the country; so look out for events in your area.
To further support the growth of Fairtrade, Billington’s are featured in a Fairtrade advertorial alongside Café Direct and Tea Direct in the March edition of Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine.
