Entry Rules
Closing date is 31st December 2008
- All entries must include the entrant’s name, address and telephone number, as well as the name of the recipe’s creator, and the story behind the recipe – for example, what the entrant associates with the recipe. Confirmation must also be sent that the entrant has read the Terms and Conditions of the competition.
- Entries can be made via the Billington’s website, www.billingtons.co.uk and follow the link to the competition page, by email to info@billingtons.co.uk or via post to Family Recipe Competition, Billington’s, Sugar Way, Peterborough, PE2 9AY
- All recipes must be original to the senders and in no way copied or taken from any other source
- Please DO NOT send baked samples. Due to health and safety regulations these will have to be discarded, and will not be tasted. Send only recipes, entrant’s details and stories relating to the cake.
Competition Terms & Conditions
1. This competition is open to all residents of the UK, aged 18 and over, except for employees of Billington’s (the promoter), Richmond Towers Communications and Baumatic and any of its subsidiaries or any companies or agencies directly connected with the creation and administration of this competition or their families. Billington’s is a division of British Sugar plc, registration number 315158.
2. Entry into this competition will be deemed to constitute full acceptance of these terms and conditions. No responsibility is assumed for any lost or, delayed entries via the postal route.
3. To enter, provide us with a family recipe and the story behind the recipe. All recipes sent in must be original to the senders, and in no way copied or taken from any other source.
4. Entries can be sent via the website, www.billingtons.co.uk, or by email to info@billingtons.co.uk or alternatively send your recipe to Family Recipe Competition, Billington’s, Sugar Way, Peterborough, PE2 9AY. No purchase is necessary to enter.
5. Copyright of the recipes submitted vest in Billington’s (the promoter)
6. First prize consists of a selection of Baumatic kitchen appliances, to the retail value of £6,000, a limited edition Billington’s Unrefined Sugar Tin and a selection of Billington’s Unrefined Sugar.
7. Runners up prizes consist of 149 limited edition Billington’s Unrefined Sugar tins, and a selection of Billington’s Unrefined Sugar.
8. The prizes are non-transferable, non-negotiable, non-refundable, neither are cash or credit alternatives possible.

10. The competition will close on 31st December 2008
11. The 150 recipes selected will be chosen depending on ingredients, recipe history, and related anecdotes, the winner will be chosen on these merits, and the judges decision is final.
12. All prize winners will be notified by e-mail or phone within 30 days of the competition closing, and are required to accept their prize within 21 days of notification. The promoter will notify the competition prizewinner by e-mail or phone on how to choose their selected prize from Baumatic.
13. You can also write into us at the address in the Entry Rules to find out the name and county of the main prize winner and 149 runners up.
14. In the event of non-acceptance within the specified time period, the winners will forfeit any and all claim to the prize awarded but not accepted. The promoter reserves the right to reallocate any prize to the next selected entry. The promoter reserves the right to cancel this competition at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, or if circumstances arise out of its control.
15. The judges' decision is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.
16. The promoter is not liable for any costs, claims, damages or loss suffered by any person as a result of entering or winning this competition occasioned by any failure, however caused, in the fulfilment of the terms of this competition, except that no term in this competition will operate to limit the liability of any party for death or personal injury caused by negligence. The competition prizes include delivery but does not include fitting of the £6000 worth of Baumatic kitchen appliances
17. If the promoter, in its reasonable opinion, believes that a person is deliberately manipulating entries into this competition, the promoter may exclude such person from this competition.
18. If any tax is levied by the Inland Revenue in respect of the award of any prize pursuant to this competition, such tax levied will be the responsibility of, and paid by, the winner to the Inland Revenue.
19. These Terms and Conditions are subject to English Law and the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

22. By entering this competition you agree to the promoter contacting you by email, post or telephone to confirm your entry has been received, whether your entry matched the entry rules and whether you have won a prize. If you enter through the website and join the Sugar Club you may unsubscribe at any time.
23. By entering this competition you agree to your name, recipe, photograph (if attached) and anecdote being displayed on the Billington's website. Not all recipes entered will be displayed.
